by sbrothierThe problem Latvian startup Helico Aerospace Industries has set out to solve is most homemade action sports videos rely on a camera, such as the GoPro, being strapped on your person or action sports equipment, providing mostly a POV shot only. Lessons Learned Shooting with the Canon 5D Mark II :: digitalartwork – Multimedia Journalism
by sbrothierFor the Michael Jackson Memorial piece I worked on, we decided before I left for L.A. that we would use the Canon 5D Mark II to try and push the look of the piece, and to try something new. The first thing I did, is call up a freelancer, Patrick Burke, to run sound. Patrick used to be an AC (Assistant Camera) in L.A. so he came with all the right tools, including a film slate that we used to sync audio from a Marantz PMD660 to the video footage of the 5D.

yellowBird Video Platform Puts You In the Middle, But Can It Tell a Story? - Jawbone.tv - The Evolution of Story.
by sbrothierInteractive video has a long way to go, but Netherlands based yellowBird and their 360 degree offering might help move it along.
We, as a species, watch a lot of vids. Buckets full, really. And for the most part, we're comfortable pressing play and being spoon-fed the story. This, at least in part, explains the lukewarm reception - commercially speaking - of interactive films. Most of the 'interactivity' centers on controlling the story.

Wacom Cintiq 12WX LCD Pen Tablet Video Review (Verdict: Simply Amazing) UPDATED
by sbrothierHere's the video review for the new Wacom Cintiq 12WX, a tablet that allows you to draw directly on the screen with extreme precision, great feel and amazing results (even with butter fingers like mine). The Cintiq 12WX is probably the best peripheral I have ever tried. If you are not a professional illustrator or photographer, you may want to get one. If you are pro, however, you will be wondering why have you been waiting for so long for this 12" wonder.
